Project Overview
John Flowers Flat and Industrial Roofing Ltd was appointed by South Tyneside Council to deliver essential roofing refurbishment works at the historic Jarrow Hall Museum between November 2024 and April 2025.
The Solution
The works involved removing the existing single ply membrane and Scottish river wash pebble ballast before installing a three layer bitumen built up felt system in line with the SIG Accuroof specification. The system included tapered insulation to improve drainage, directing water to newly installed external parapet outlets.
The Result
Covering approximately 1,400m², the refurbishment resolved significant water ingress issues while protecting the historic building. All works were carried out while the museum remained operational, with additional precautions taken to safeguard on site animals and valuable historical artefacts.
