Killhope Lead Mine

Contractor: Historic Property Restoration Ltd
Project Location: Bishop Auckland

Project Overview

Killhope Lead Mine, located near Bishop Auckland, began construction in 1853 and closed in 1910. During the 1870s it became one of the richest lead mines in Britain and is now recognised as one of the oldest mines in the country.

Ingleford Scaffolding Ltd worked with Historic Property Restoration Ltd to provide specialist access for restoration works at the historic site.

The Solution

A bespoke scaffold system was designed and installed to provide safe access for the restoration of the mine’s historic water wheel.

The Result

The scaffold provided secure access for the restoration works, supporting the careful preservation of an important historic structure.
